Day 109 - hot pools
Methven & Christchurch.
We had no walking planned today but we had a whole lot of trail admin to do. Josh’s feet weren’t perfect but he wanted to give the next section a crack so we arranged transport to the start of the trailhead for tomorrow morning.
The tread on my shoes had worn down a lot and I was getting regular achy pains in the side of my foot, so I had organised a driver to take me to Christchurch first thing this morning so I could pick up new ones from Rebel.
By midday, I’d driven the 70 minutes to Westfield in Christchurch, picked up new shoes, bought some thermals and gloves (did I mention it’s getting cold?!), done the food shop for the next section and driven in time for a glorious lunch in the sunshine with Josh. He’d done the laundry and re-waterproofed our gear whilst I was out.
We spent the afternoon relaxing in the sun and then headed to the Opuke thermal pools for some proper relaxation. Two hours of hot water soaking into my aching muscles as the sun went down was pure bliss.
