Day 127 - luge
Queenstown.
I’d visited Queenstown a number of times before but this time it felt very different. It was maybe a large village when I’d come with my Dad in 2010, and then a sizeable town with Lucy & Joe in 2019 but now it felt like a small city. It was sprawling. We were staying about a 20 minute walk to the harbour front. I’d been warned to expect crowds of tourists and sure it was busy but after being so isolated for so long, it was nice to be amongst the buzz.
I was having a full day off today so after a lazy morning, we walked along the lakeside into town, wandering through the streets feeling like proper tourists on holiday.
We’d booked the cable car up to the top of Bob’s peak and after a not so fun hour long queue we were whizzing up to the top…
….and then whizzing back down again via the luge, and again and again. We easily whizzed past all the twelve year olds who were also luging.
We sat in the sunshine for the rest of the afternoon sipping on cocktails and then headed back to the Airbnb for an Indian takeaway.
Today was my last planned trail rest day… I switched into proper countdown mode. If all went to plan, in 11 days I would be walking into Bluff… that felt really good.
